Annual Parking Review 2022 - Herne Bay

As part of our Annual Parking Review, we're proposing the below changes to parking restrictions in Herne Bay. 

You can share your views on the proposals by completing our survey before midday on Monday 7 February. Any objections will be reported to councillors at the Joint Transportation Board on 1 March.

Location Proposal
General Herne Bay  Increase on-street permit prices by 3%, because permit prices have not increased since 2019.
Streetfield, Herne  Remove a short length of single yellow line on one side near the junction with School Lane to allow cars
to be parked in a more suitable location and create a controlled parking zone allowing parking to be
enforced wherever a single yellow line is marked out
Barley Close  Double yellow lines at the junction with The Meadows and at the entrance to the grassed area to keep
the junction clear and allow access for grass cutting
Willow Farm Way

Double yellow lines on the bend outside No 54 to avoid large vehicles needing to cut across the grass

Central Parade  Change status of loading bay opposite the bandstand to allow all vehicles to load or unload for up to 20
minutes
Pochard Crescent Pavement and verge parking ban to avoid obstruction of pavements and damage to verges
Neville Road and Barnes Way  Yellow lines along one side to reduce traffic congestion
Reculver Drive Double yellow lines outside Reculver Drive car park to protect visibility for drivers leaving the car park
Reculver Road, Reculver
Lane & Sweechbridge Road
Double yellow lines at the junction to reduce congestion and allow buses to pass safely
Mortimer Street  Allow all vehicles to use loading bay in the lay by outside No 80
Station Road  Extend double yellow lines outside the allotments to improve visibility for drivers leaving the allotments
Eddington Lane  Double yellow lines in the link road to the Thanet Way where the road is too narrow for parking

Central Avenue 

Extend double yellow lines at the southern and northern ends to prevent obstruction of private drives
Western Esplanade  Double yellow lines at the junctions with side roads to keep the junctions clear
Hampton Pier Avenue  Short lengths of double yellow lines between Swalecliffe Avenue and Sea Street to create passing places
Albany Drive  Double yellow lines outside number 1a to avoid cars being parked overhanging the driveway.
High Street  Loading and unloading to be prohibited between 3pm and 5pm
