Annual Parking Review - Whitstable

As part of our Annual Parking Review, we're proposing the below changes to parking restrictions in Whitstable. 

You can share your views on the proposals by completing our survey before Friday 21 February. Any objections will be reported to councillors at the Joint Transportation Board on 24 March.

Emelina Way

To introduce double yellow lines on the bends in Emelina Way as parked cars obstruct large vehicles, particularly refuse collection vehicles.

Fern Close

To introduce double yellow lines at the junction with Ridgeway as parked cars obstruct turning vehicles.

Grimthorpe Avenue   To introduce double yellow lines between 71-81 Grimthorpe Avenue to prevent parking on a tight bend.
Grimthrope Avenue and Borstal Hill

To extend the existing double yellow lines near the junction as parked cars obstruct the flow of traffic.

1a Harbour Street 

To change the existing one hour parking bay to a disabled parking bay to provide more parking for disabled badge holders.

29 - 30 Harbour Street 

To change the existing one hour parking bay to a disabled parking bay to provide more parking for disabled badge holders.

51-59 Harbour Street 

To change part of the existing loading bay to a disabled parking bay to create more parking for disabled badge holders.

79-83 Harbour Street 

To change part of the existing loading bay to a disabled parking bay to provide more space for blue badge holders to park.

Kemp Road 

To introduce a pavement parking ban as parked cars are damaging the grass verges.

Kingsdown Park (East)

To introduce a pavement parking ban as cars parked on the pavement force pedestrians to walk in the road.

Marine Parade 

To introduce double yellow lines across the dropped kerbs east of St Anne’s Road as cars are sometimes parked across the dropped kerbs.

Meadow Walk and Spring Walk 

To introduce double yellow lines at the junction, opposite 7 Meadow Walk, as parked cars obstruct turning traffic.

Nelson Road 

To create a disabled parking bay near the junction with Oxford Street and remove the existing single yellow lines, in order to provide bays to compensate for those now used as electric vehicle charging bays.

Norfolk Street, Suffolk Street and Glebe Way 

To remove some of the existing double yellow lines to create more parking spaces.

Oxford Street 

To convert the existing loading bay outside 7-9 Oxford Street to a taxi rank as there is not enough space for taxis on the existing rank.

Plough Lane and Swalecliffe Court Drive  To introduce a pavement and verge parking ban due to motor caravans being parked on the verges.
Terrys Lane

To introduce a disabled parking bay outside 5-7 Terrys Lane to provide more parking for disabled badge holders.

The Ridings and Longacre 

To introduce double yellow lines at the junction as parked cars obstruct visibility.

Valkyrie Avenue

To introduce single yellow lines between the junctions with Grimthorpe Avenue and Sandpiper Road to prevent parking on the hill close to junctions.
