Draft Temporary Accommodation Policy

The council is currently consulting on its draft Temporary Accommodation Policy and wants to hear your views.

The draft policy sets out the council’s approach to placing households in temporary accommodation. It covers interim placements while the council investigates someone’s homelessness application as well as longer-term temporary accommodation for households accepted as homeless.

The policy takes account of the statutory requirements the council must comply with in relation to the suitability of accommodation, the homelessness code of guidance and relevant case law. Consideration has also been given to the need to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and to the Public Sector Equality Duty.
