The city council’s Heritage team has won a prestigious prize from the Royal Town Planning Institute.
The Heritage Strategy for Canterbury District won the Excellence in Planning for Heritage and Culture category in the RTPI South East Awards for Planning Excellence 2019.
These awards celebrate outstanding projects that demonstrate the power of planning across the southeast, reflecting the diversity of planning achievement, including new development, regeneration and conservation.
Planning Policy and Heritage Manager, Karen Britton said: “We had lots of community and school involvement early on in the process of developing the strategy, which really helped us to put the document together. Naturally we are pleased to have won this award, but we couldn’t have done it without that support, so it’s a big thank you from us to everyone who played their part in it.”
