Thousands of people use our park and ride car parks every week.
They love the value for money – £3.50 all day for up to six people – and letting someone else have the hassle of driving into the heart of the city centre.
It allows them to focus on getting to work, studying and shopping.
Thanks to improvements in technology, paying for your parking at our New Dover Road, Sturry Road and Wincheap sites is about to get a whole lot easier.
Our new payment machines will accept contactless cards as well as cash. You will also be able to pay by app and phone.
In the coming weeks, you will be able to create an online account which means our cameras will read your number plate and the system will process your payment without you having to lift a finger.
You will still need to collect a ticket as you enter the car park to show the park and ride bus driver.
Once it is up and running, the new system will not accept your discount card if you still use one.
We recommend you do all you can now to use up any credit and only top up in small amounts.
To claim any outstanding balance, you’ll need to download our form and return it with your card. We’ll then set you up on our system and credit it with remaining budget.
The changes at our park and ride sites are part of a revamp of 16 of our car parks across the district.
