Proposed changes to the city centre pedestrian zone

The council is currently consulting on some proposed changes to pedestrian zones in Canterbury city centre:

St Margaret’s Street

We are proposing to improve the footway, carriageway and lighting in St Margaret’s Street.  

Additionally, it is proposed to extend the pedestrian zone to run the entire length of St Margaret’s Street, to the junction with Watling Street, and to close Hawks Lane to traffic at the junction with St Margaret’s Street.

St Peter’s Lane

It is proposed to close St Peter’s Lane to traffic for a short distance at the junction with St Peter’s Street.
