We are aware of two recent cases where people have got into difficulty on The Street at Tankerton.
Although we believe incidents like these to be unusual, we take issues of safety on our coastline very seriously.
Our foreshore officers inspected the whole area yesterday (Friday 3 August) and, while they are satisfied the signs provide the right information to the public, will look at putting more up to be on the safe side. Our lifeguards at Tankerton will also patrol this area at low tide time to advise people about how to stay safe.
We would like to stress that people using The Street should always be aware of the tide times and how conditions there can change very quickly. Taking personal responsibility for your safety is very important, and these recent incidents should serve as a timely reminder to parents to speak to their children about staying safe along our coastline.
