Voters will go to the polls on Thursday 15 November to elect a new county councillor for the Canterbury North division.
The by-election follows the sad death of Cllr John Simmonds in August of this year.
The Canterbury North division covers:
- the Church Street and South Street areas of Whitstable
- South Tankerton
- Chartham (part), Chartham Hatch and Shalmsford Street
- the University of Kent campus
- Tyler Hill
- Rough Common
Deputy Returning Officer and Canterbury City Council Chief Executive Colin Carmichael said: “Elections of any sort are an opportunity to make your voice heard and this one is no different.
“But to have your say you must register to vote by midnight on Tuesday 30 October.”
You can register to vote online by visiting gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Voters have until 5pm on Wednesday 31 October to apply for a postal vote and 5pm on Wednesday 7 November to apply for someone to vote on their behalf. This is known as a proxy vote.
If you wish to stand as a candidate, nomination papers are available from Canterbury City Council’s Electoral Services team. You can contact them by calling 01227 862006 or emailing email@example.com
