Food safety alert on some Kinder products

Earlier this month, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) announced there was a concern about Salmonella in a range of Kinder egg products.

There have been reports nationally of large numbers of children being ill, some with very severe symptoms.

Today (Friday 29 April), we, along with all other local councils, have have been asked by the FSA to make contact with small retailers to ensure that they are fully aware of the need to remove these products from sale.

Due to the severity of the Salmonella infection in young children, the FSA has also asked us to proactively follow up the product withdrawal.

We would encourage all consumers to make themselves aware of the original FSA food safety alert.

Our environmental health officers will be contacting small businesses and also carrying out spot checks.
