Net Zero Action Plan

We are committed to playing our role in tackling the climate emergency the council declared in 2019 by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions as quickly as we can.
We adopted our Climate Change Action Plan 2021-2030 in May 2021 and have made significant strides in a number of areas.
But an enormous amount has changed over the past four years and the adopted plan needs to be updated.
In line with other districts across the county, there is still a lot to do for the council to achieve net zero emissions by 2030.
The draft Net Zero Action Plan is designed to focus the council’s efforts and resources to build a legacy that it can pass on to any new council created as part of local government reorganisation.
Everyone has a role in tackling climate change and the council will welcome the views of residents and key stakeholders on the draft plan.
