Right to Grow pilot scheme at Salt Marsh Lane, Whitstable

The council is inviting residents, local organisations and community partners to share their views on the Revival Right to Grow pilot scheme at Salt Marsh Lane open space in Whitstable.
Revival has been participating in the council’s Right to Grow pilot scheme since the beginning of 2026.
The scheme is expected to run for an initial two-year pilot period before being formally reviewed.
During this time, we are seeking feedback from the community throughout the year, including this spring consultation and further opportunities in the autumn and winter.
Your views will help us understand how the scheme is working in practice and inform future decisions.
This consultation asks for feedback on:
- awareness and understanding of the Right to Grow concept
- levels of support for the pilot scheme at Salt Marsh Lane
- experiences and impacts on residents and users
- the importance of key issues such as safety, maintenance and environmental impact
- any concerns or challenges associated with community growing
- suggestions for how the scheme could be improved or supported
We also want to understand how people are currently involved with the site and whether there is interest in volunteering or contributing to the scheme in the future.
Have your say
The consultation is open from Monday 18 May until 9am on 13 July 2026.
You can take part by completing our online survey, where you can share your views and experiences of the scheme.
Alternatively, you can email your comments to consultations@canterbury.gov.uk or write to Consultations Team, Canterbury City Council, 14 Rose Lane, Canterbury, CT1 2UR.
