Draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2026-2030

We are inviting residents, local organisations and community partners to share their views on our draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2026-2030.

Under the Homelessness Act 2002, housing authorities are required to produce and implement a homelessness strategy at least every five years.

This strategy sets out our key priorities for preventing and reducing homelessness and rough sleeping across the Canterbury district for the period 2026 to 2030.

We want to hear from residents, frontline organisations and anyone with lived experience of homelessness to make sure our priorities reflect the needs of our communities.

The survey asks for your views on:

  • the four strategic priorities in the draft strategy and whether you think the proposed approaches will be effective
  • how well the strategy supports children and families affected by homelessness
  • whether anything is missing from the draft
  • how realistic the strategy is to deliver given current funding and housing pressures
  • which partners you think the council should be working with

Have your say

Read the draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy and share your views by completing our survey by 9am on Wednesday 2 September 2026.

Need help or an alternative format?

You can download a paper version of the survey if you would like to see the questions before completing it online, or to submit your responses by post.
