Support your local boozer during lockdown!

We've heard today that wet-led pubs (those that predominantly serve alcohol rather than provide food) now have until Sunday 28 February to apply for the Christmas Support Payment.

The deadline had been this coming Sunday.

This scheme provides cash grants of £1,000 to eligible premises – see the full details on the government website.

So far we have paid out 71 grants under this scheme, but we believe there are still quite a few pubs in the district that qualify for it, but who have not yet applied, and we are contacting them directly to give them a reminder.

So how can you support them? Well, if you've got a local or favourite pub, please give them a shout and check to see whether they've looked into their eligibility yet.

You never know – it could just make the difference as to whether you'll have that boozer to go back to when they're allowed to reopen.
