Consultation and Engagement Strategy

Our Corporate Plan says we should put consultation and engagement at the heart of our decision making process.

After talking to a wide range of people, the Consultation and Engagement Strategy aims to build trust, encourage even more transparency and allow the council to explain its decisions based on feedback from those that live, work and study in the district.

The strategy is based on five strategic objectives:

  • engage early to shape policies together
  • include all voices, especially the underrepresented
  • equip staff for strong engagement
  • show how community input shapes our choice
  • collate frequent feedback to understand priorities

The draft strategy aims to set out a confident, coordinated and consistent approach to how the council engages with its residents and partners in shaping decisions.

We want to know if you think this is the right approach.
