Traffic Regulation Order – proposed closure of Pound Lane to vehicles

Views were sought in this consultation on the proposed closure of a short length of Pound Lane to vehicles to improve pedestrian and cycle access and support the proposed Levelling Up Fund project.

Consultation closed at midday on Friday 15 December. Thanks to all who commented.

The information issued in the consultation remains available for the public to read below, but comments can no longer be made.

—————————————————————————————————————–

Pound Lane is very narrow – in places only five metres wide. At their narrowest the pavements are as little as half a metre wide and therefore not suitable for wheelchair access.

In order to enable the improvement works to proceed it is necessary to make amendments to the Traffic Regulation Order as follows:

  • to permanently close a short length of Pound Lane to traffic, near its junction with St Peter’s Street

The proposed change is set out in the Deposit Document.
