Westbere and Hersden Community Governance Review – response to Stage 1
Canterbury City Council has considered the consultation responses and the evidence provided from Stage 1 of the Community Governance Review and has published its draft recommendations.
The results of the consultation showed strong support for the transfer of the site to the Westbere Parish.
The main reason why residents supported the proposal was because of the strong historical links between the village, the Westbere Charities and the Bread and Cheese Field site.
Evidence demonstrated that the connections are long held and ongoing, connected not just to the village but also to the Westbere Parish Council.
The findings were considered at a meeting of the General Purposes Committee on 15 July and resolved at Full Council on 18 July.
A copy of the report can be found on the council’s website.
The recommendation is therefore as follows:
To support the proposal and recommend that the Bread and Cheese Field site be incorporated into the Westbere Parish boundary.
A Community Governance Review requires that we seek views on the draft recommendations arising from the stage one consultation. Feedback will assist the advisory group in making its final recommendations.
