Catch up continues as week one of Canenco ends

We've reached the end of week one of collections under our new, council-owned company Canenco. It's been exciting and challenging in equal measure.

Good progress has been made on clearing the backlog of collections from the Serco era but we know there are a few areas still to get to.

This week has also seen some delays, mainly to recycling collections, as the crews get used to the new vehicles and new ways of working.

We will be catching up on all of this during tomorrow (Saturday), so please leave your bins out.

Apologies to anyone who has not been visited on time this week. Missed bins can be reported via our website. Your patience and understanding is appreciated and we have been grateful for the many messages of support as we enter this new era for collections.

We are confident that we will have as clean a slate as possible to start from on Monday. Our new, dedicated food vehicles will be in service, which should help address the problems with food collections in recent weeks.

But… we are all now anxiously waiting to see if the forecast heavy snow on Sunday materialises. After the impact on collections of Covid, flooding and the changeover from Serco to Canenco, a shed load of the white stuff is the last thing we need.

If the weather is bad and it prevents us from getting out on Monday morning, the advice is to put bins out as normal and we will get to them when conditions allow. We will provide updates on this page as required.
