Free webinar raises awareness of domestic abuse

Raising an awareness of domestic abuse: How should I respond?

A free webinar to raise awareness of domestic abuse and violence takes place next week.

It’s been put together by the Canterbury Community Safety Partnership and the Rising Sun Domestic Violence & Abuse Service as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Two dates are available – Tuesday 5 October between 7.30pm and 8.30pm, and Wednesday 6 October between 1pm and 2pm. Spaces can be booked online.

The one hour session, which is for people aged 16 and over, will help you develop your understanding of what domestic abuse is, what it looks like and what services are available to help.

In particular, it covers:

* The definition of domestic abuse
* How it impacts survivors’ lives
* How to respond if a survivor discloses abuse
* How to seek ongoing support

The webinar will take place on Zoom and will be recorded and shared on Canterbury District Community Safety Partnership and Rising Sun Domestic Violence and Abuse Service’s YouTube channels.
