CBD businesses urged to get in touch

Local businesses that sell CBD (cannabidiol) products are being urged to register with the city council so they can be inspected.

CBD is a chemical found naturally within the cannabis plant and can be used in a wide range of products including oils, confectionary, bakery products and drinks.

Last Thursday (13 February), the Food Standards Agency announced an investigation into the safety of CBD products. After 31 March 2021, only authorised products containing CBD will be allowed to be sold.

The council’s Head of Safer Neighbourhoods, Doug Rattray, said: “We want to work with businesses on this issue and get them registered and inspected as soon as possible. Please get in touch with us so that we can arrange to come and see you.”
