Bishopstone Glen sewage release – update

Southern Water’s sewer pipe that burst at Bishopstone on Saturday 23 March, leading to sewage flowing into Bishopstone Glen, has been repaired.

As a result of the repairs and reduced impact upon the bathing waters, we put up signs advising people to stay out of the water. These will now be removed.

Southern Water has completed a clean up operation and they and the Environment Agency will continue to monitor the situation, ensuring there are no further issues.

Southern Water apologises for the inconvenience this has caused.
