Calling all sports clubs

We are currently reviewing community sports facilities in the district in preparation for the development of our playing pitch strategy for the next five years.

This piece of work aims to assess the current position in terms of whether the quantity, quality, location and accessibility of sports facilities meet the needs of the community.

It will also help us identify and prioritise areas where investment is needed in playing pitches, sports facilities and associated infrastructure.

We have already written to all the sports clubs we have details for, but are aware there will be some clubs we do not know of and who will have valuable insights to offer.

This is a great opportunity for clubs to help shape the future of community sport in the district.

Previous strategies have led to projects such as the three nine v nine pitches at Thornden Wood Primary School and the upgraded tennis courts in Herne Bay.

And other schemes in the pipeline include a new cricket facility at Saxon Fields, a new 3G pitch at Herne Bay High School and new junior football pitches in Hersden.

Clubs are invited to complete our survey by Friday 13 February.
