Cllr Connie Nolan up for prestigious award

Some really nice news this morning that our councillor Connie Nolan has been shortlisted for a major national award that celebrates the wide-ranging work of councillors.

Connie, who represents Barton ward in Canterbury, is in the running for the Resilience Champion award at the annual LGIU and CCLA Cllr Awards 2023.

Her nomination was in recognition of her work in supporting displaced Ukrainian people and their hosts to ensure the Ukrainian community could settle well into the district.

Judges said: “She is unfailingly personable and continues to engage with individuals and groups, despite language barriers and her own full programme of work.”

More than 300 nominations were received across five categories this year and the winners for England and Wales will be announced at the Guildhall in London on 16 November.
