Current SWEP activation period comes to an end

The current Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) activation period has come to an end today.

It had been in place since 2 January as temperatures dropped.

Over the 16 days, 12 individuals accessed the accommodation that was available, for a total of 57 nights across all those individuals.

It should be remembered that SWEP activation periods are over and above the day-to-day support and outreach work that we provide to rough sleepers.

Our teams, working with our partner organisations, are out and about every day to help those living on the streets to try and get them into appropriate accommodation.

Indeed, just this week we were able to house four of our rough sleeper clients, which is really positive news.

We monitor weather conditions carefully and stand ready to bring SWEP whenever necessary.
