Full system flow as Nailbourne joins the Little Stour

The Nailbourne has now joined the Little Stour, and we are seeing full system flow.

While we have managed numerous Nailbourne flow events in the past, it has arrived with significant intensity this year. As a result, we are accelerating our response measures ahead of the usual schedule.

We are closing the Mill Lane, Bridge, floodgate today (Tuesday 17 February). The water depth and flow speed have reached levels that are no longer safe for vehicles.

Out Elmsted Lane is currently at the threshold for closure. We are liaising closely with Kent County Council to keep the road open for as long as safely possible.

We are also working closely with the Environment Agency (EA) to monitor levels.

The EA will operate the Littlebourne relief channel as soon as their trigger levels are reached.
