Incredible LEGO® creations on show at The Beaney
An exhibition of 30 stunning models of iconic moments in British history made entirely out of LEGO bricks comes to The Beaney in Canterbury in February.
Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO Bricks includes as its centrepiece a show-stopping eight metre-long model of The Flying Scotsman, the world’s most famous steam locomotive complete with lights, sounds and smoke effects.
The show features exhibits from the Stone Age through to the 21st Century and uses more than 150,000 LEGO bricks. The models have been created by Bright Bricks, the leading company for LEGO brick creations.
Alongside the exhibition is a unique opportunity for visitors to dive into the 70,000 piece LEGO brick pit and create their own masterpieces.
Chairman of Canterbury City Council’s Community Committee, Cllr Neil Baker, said: “LEGO is loved by kids – and much bigger kids – so this exhibition is one that’s not to be missed. And once you’ve marvelled at the incredible models on display, you can get cracking on making your own inspiring creations.
“This is going to be a very popular event and early booking is recommended so you don’t miss out.”
Bricks Britannia: A History of Britain in LEGO Bricks opens at The Beaney on Saturday 9 February and runs until Sunday 24 February.
Admission is £6.50 for adults, £6 for concessions and £5 for children (under threes go free). Canterbury Museum and Galleries members receive a 10 per cent discount off their booking.
A special LEGO schools workshop takes place on Monday 11 February, where pupils will not only get exclusive access to this must-see exhibition, but also hands-on, cross-curricular LEGO learning experiences.
