Live music and special events at the South Quay Shed

Whitstable’s South Quay Shed will host a summer of live music, special events and late night closures over the next few weeks.

The city council, which owns and runs the venue, has put together an exciting programme of activities over the school holidays. It includes live music every Friday evening throughout August, starting at 7pm, featuring local artists such as Squeeze Gut Alley and Michael Seraphim (apart from 5 August when there is a DJ set).

And on Sunday afternoons from 3pm, expect acoustic sets, DJs and sing-a-long sessions with artists including Ry Robson, Ronnie Hamilton, Hayley Gold, Looking Back and Richard Millns.

In addition to the live music, South Quay Shed traders are putting on their own events, with cookie workshops every Monday courtesy of Dunk Cookies and sushi workshops every Wednesday from Sooshi Sushi. For more information on these, find Dunk on Instagram at @dunkcookiesuk and Sooshi at @sooshi_sushi.

Visitors can also look forward to cocktails and special offers at the Unit 6 bar.

Chairman of Whitstable Harbour Board, Cllr Colin Spooner, said: “The South Quay Shed has already become one of the town’s most popular venues in just two months, and we’re really pleased to be building on this great start with a fantastic programme of live music and other activities this summer.

“What could be better than enjoying a drink or two and some great food, while being entertained by top quality live music at the same time?

“And of course, while you’re there, visit the retail outlets and pick yourself up some beautiful, unique items from our brilliant traders.”

During the holidays, the South Quay Shed will be open from 8am until 8pm, Sunday to Thursday, and then late nights on Friday and Saturday from 8am until 10pm. The full programme of events is on the venue’s Instagram page @southquayshed.whitstable, or visit in person where all the details will be on the noticeboard.

Individual trading times of the units may vary and visitors are encouraged to check them out on their social media channels to ensure they’re open before popping along.
