Lord Mayor’s Awards 2025 open for nominations

Nominations are now open for the 2025 Lord Mayor’s Awards, which sees unsung heroes from the Canterbury district celebrated for their selfless dedication to helping others.
The scheme welcomes nominees from all walks of life and there is no age limit.
Nominees must live, work, study or volunteer in Canterbury, Herne Bay, Whitstable or a village in the district, but people from outside the district are allowed to submit nominations.
The deadline to put someone forward is Friday 31 October.
Entries will be judged by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Keji Moses, and a representative from each of the political groups at the city council. The awards will be presented at a ceremony early next year.
Cllr Moses said: “The Lord Mayor’s Awards scheme is one of the highlights of the civic year. I can’t wait to read all the nominations, because I know how many brilliant people there are in our district who are making such a difference to the lives of others.
“If you’ve never nominated someone before, please make this the year you do. It takes just a few minutes, and we have seen in previous years how special it is for those individuals who receive this recognition.
“Please make our job as the judging panel as hard as it can possibly be!”
Nominations can be submitted online, or hard copy forms are available by calling the Lord Mayor’s office on 01227 862080 or by emailing lordmayor@canterbury.gov.uk.
