Nominations announced for city and parish elections

This morning we have published the lists of candidates standing for election to Canterbury City Council and two contested parish councils (Kingston and Fordwich) on Thursday 4 May.

Really important piece of information number one: to vote in these elections, you must be registered to vote by Monday 17 April. It only takes a few minutes to register.

If you do not know if you are registered, you can check by emailing electoral.services@canterbury.gov.uk or call 01227 862007.

Really important piece of information number two: if you want to vote at the polling station in these elections, you will need to show an approved form of photo ID before you can be issued a ballot paper. Find out more about this.

You can contact us using the details above if you need help applying for voter ID, including having a photo taken.

The deadline for new applications to vote by post or to cancel or amend an existing postal or proxy vote is 5pm on Tuesday 18 April.

The deadline for new applications to vote by proxy is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April.

The deadline for applications to vote by emergency proxy is by 5pm on Thursday 4 May.
