Resurfacing to start at St Radigunds car park
Work to fully resurface and reline St Radigunds car park starts this coming Monday (11 October).
It will take place in three phases and take around 10 days to complete. The car park will remain open throughout, apart from on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 October when it will be closed completely to allow work to the area near the entrance.
These two days have been chosen to coincide with when there is nothing significant at the Marlowe Theatre and demand will be lower. Motorists will be signposted to nearby Pound Lane car park.
As well as the surfacing work, six extra spaces will be created and circulation around the car park will also be improved.
Lead councillor for parking, Cllr Barbara Flack, said: "Nobody really likes paying for parking, but charging brings in income that funds improvements such as resurfacing and relining or bigger schemes like ANPR, which is so popular with motorists.
"The surface at St Radigunds is in a poor condition and this work will make using it a far more pleasant experience for our customers."
