Tetra Pak cartons can now be recycled

You can now recycle liquid cartons, such as Tetra Paks, at home in your blue bin or box along with your plastic, glass and metal recycling.

This includes cartons used for long-life milk, juice, custard and soup.

The change comes into force today (Wednesday 1 April 2026) and is part of the government’s Simpler Recycling plan to make recycling easier for everyone.

All you need to do is:

  • rinse your liquid carton
  • leave the cap on
  • place it in your blue bin or box

Cartons are then sorted, cleaned and transformed into new products like cardboard boxes, construction boards or even new cartons.
