Wincheap ward set for city council by-election

Following the resignation of Cllr Roben Franklin, a by-election for Wincheap ward will take place on Thursday 13 November.

Some important dates and details to be aware of:

  • The deadline to be registered to vote in this election is Tuesday 28 October. This can be done on the national government website
  • The deadline to apply for a postal vote for the election is 5pm on Wednesday 29 October – apply online
  • The deadline to apply for a proxy vote for the election, or for a Voter Authority Certificate (for photo identification purposes), is 5pm on Wednesday 5 November
  • On polling day, polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm as usual
  • The count will be held on Friday 14 November with a result announced later that day

Wincheap ward residents only need to register to vote if they are not already registered, and they do not need to apply for a postal vote if they already have one.

Anyone unsure about either of these can check with Electoral Services by emailing electoral.services@canterbury.gov.uk or calling 01227 862007.
