1) How can I get to the event?

The event is being held at Canterbury Rugby Football Club, Merton Lane North, CT4 7DZ and is easily accessible by car or bus.

By car

There will be free parking available on site as well as an overflow car park located on Nackington Road, close to the Simon Langton School. This will be manned by a marshal should it be open.

We have dedicated disabled parking spaces on site, using the Kent MS Centre’s car park. If you require a disabled space, please notify the marshals as you arrive and have your blue badge displayed.

By bus

There is a dedicated free shuttle bus service from Canterbury Bus Station, that will take approximately 10 minutes, dependent on traffic.

2) Is the event pushchair/wheelchair friendly?

The Rugby Club is an accessible space. There will be dedicated disabled parking spaces on site. There is also a disabled toilet on site.

All areas can be accessed by both wheelchair and pushchair users. The activities and picnic area will be situated on the sports fields. While slightly uneven in some areas, the fields are still accessible.

3) Will there be first aid support on hand?

We have a dedicated medical team on site for the event. Should you require any medical assistance, please alert a member of the event staff/security, activity provider or make your way to the Police tent located at the entrance.

A defibrillator is located at the front of the club house.

The nearest hospitals, should you need to make your own way, are:

Minor injuries – Kent and Canterbury Hospital, Ethelbert Rd, Canterbury, CT1, 3NG

Accident and Emergency – William Harvey Hospital, Kennington Rd, TN24 0LZ

4) What happens if an activity is full?

Each activity will last approximately 45 minutes. If an activity is full, you can join the next activity slot.

5) Will food be provided?

In addition to the Rugby Club’s own food offering, other vendors will be situated on the picnic area. You are more than welcome to bring a picnic and food with you. There will be a dedicated picnic area on site. We politely ask that you dispose of any rubbish in the litter bins provided.

It is not permitted to bring your own alcohol to the event; however alcohol will be sold on site for sensible consumption as part of a family friendly event.

6) Will vendors cater to people with allergies?

Please speak to the vendor you are engaging with regarding any dietary requirements.

7) Will there be drinking water available?

There is a drinking water tap located at the side of the club house by the entrance to the changing rooms where you can refill your bottles. You can also request water from the café inside the club house.

8) Do I need a ticket to attend the event or pre-book activities?

No, you do not need a ticket to attend the event. You do not need to pre-book activities – activities will be filled on a first come, first served basis. Just come along and ‘Give it a Go’!

9) What time does the event start? What time are the activities and how long will each activity last?

The event starts at 10am and the last activity is at 3.15pm. The activities will last 45 minutes each and you will need to sign up to the activity you are interested in.

10) Can my child sign up for a club on the day if they enjoy it?

Yes, your child can sign up for a club on the day if they enjoy an activity, although there is no obligation to do this.

11) Do children need to be supervised?

All children under the age of 11 must be supervised at all times by a parent/guardian. This includes while they are participating in an activity.

12) Is there a process in place for reporting a missing child?

At the entrance to the event, we will be handing out bracelets that you can ask your child/young person to wear with your emergency contact information on.

Should your child go missing, please report this to a member of staff immediately and stay with a member of staff.

13) Is there provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?

On the ground floor of the Kent MS Centre, we have a dedicated SEND space which will be used as a ‘quiet zone’ if your child needs it.

14) Are there any age restrictions for activities/the event?

All ages are welcome to attend the event. Please check with each individual provider for age restrictions for sports activities.

15) Will the event go ahead if it rains?

We will still run the event if it rains, as long as it doesn’t pose a risk to attendees. Should severe weather occur, we will cancel the event and let people know on our social media channels.

16) What do I/my child need to wear?

We would suggest wearing comfortable clothing and trainers. If the weather is nice, we would recommend bringing suncream and plenty of water to stay hydrated.

17) Is smoking or vaping allowed on site?

Although the Rugby Club is an open space, we ask that any smokers/vapers take due consideration for others around them and move to an area with no other persons in to smoke/vape.

Smoking/vaping in the picnic area is not permitted.

18) Can I attend if I don’t live in the Canterbury district?

Although the event is being held by Canterbury City Council in conjunction with Canterbury Rugby Club and others, the event is open for all to attend regardless of where they live.

19) What if I lose something while attending the event?

Lost property will be kept at Canterbury Rugby Club for 14 days, after which it’ll be donated to the Kent MS Centre if unclaimed.
