We are pleased to say yesterday’s major grants pay run to local businesses totalled around £9.5 million and brings the total payments we have made to just over £11 million.
A groundwater flood alert has been issued for east Kent.
Business support grants update – a major pay run will be happening this Monday coming (1 February).
We’ve heard today that wet-led pubs (those that predominantly serve alcohol rather than provide food) now have until Sunday 28 February to apply for the Christmas Support Payment.
A new era will start on 1 February when residents’ bins will be emptied and the district’s streets swept for the first time by crews from the city council-owned Canterbury Environment Company.
As we’ve posted about previously, the Nailbourne is now flowing and water levels along the Stour are high, with more rain forecast in the coming days.
Last November, this pile of builder’s waste was dumped in Pennypot Lane, Chartham – a disgraceful act in a beautiful part of the district.
As the rain continues to fall, our hard working engineers have been out and about protecting vulnerable areas of the district and liaising closely with the Environment Agency and Kent County Council.
